  • GERS Discusses Efficiency of Rescue Plan, Potential Conflict for Chairman
    While the Government Employees’ Retirement System has millions of dollars flowing into it because of the rescue plan enacted last year, its trustees still have concerns.
  • Local Book Club Donates to St. Croix Elementary School Library
    Less than a year ago, in March 2022, the Altona Lagoon Book Club was heralded for their donation of books to the Juanita Gardine K-8 School Library. The club is “paying their love of books forward” again. This year, Claude O. Markoe Elementary School Library is the recipient.
  • VIEDA Approves New Tax Beneficiaries
    Four companies will receive substantial tax benefits after approval by the board of the V.I. Economic Development Commission at their meeting Thursday. Another applicant was granted an extension to begin benefits and requirements and a renewed rental contract was approved.
  • Suspects Held; Facing Murder Charges in Separate Incidents on St. Thomas
    A St. Thomas man is being held on $750,000 bail following his arrest on murder charges. The victim, according to police, was a 59-year-old man who intervened in a fight at Coki Point Beach.
  • American Red Cross, V.I. Fire Service Kickoff 2023 Sound the Alarm Home Fire Safety Events
    This effort is part of the national Red Cross Home Fire Program, which has helped save 1,505 lives – including two on St. Croix -- through these outreach and education efforts.
