Arige Shrouf is a junior majoring in English. This is her second semester with the UVI Voice. She dreams of being a book editor and getting to read books for a living. Being managing editor for the UVI Voice will be a great and exciting learning experience.

Markida’s love for journalism stemmed from her senior year in high school. She always had a passion for writing, whether it were short stories or entries for a blog, and after a six week internship at the St. Croix Avis, Journalism became her primary focus. Now a Junior Communications Major at the University of the Virgin Islands, she continues to pursue her love for journalism. She is taking part in a radio show hosted by students of the UVI St. Croix campus, College Voices Unzipped, where she discovered that broadcast journalism is where her dreams reside as she would like to become an Anchor Woman in the near future.

Denicia Suarez is a 20 year old who enjoys writing and is currently the outreach director for The UVI Voice paper. Even though nursing is her major she enjoys journalism because it brings out the creative and artistic side of her. Denicia believes that with great journalism comes great photography. She enjoys photography and capturing moments that spark images into vibrant stories that go along with her writing.

Greetings! My name is Shari Chryss Alfred,  a 21 year old senior Communication student and currently the outreach director of the Voice  on the St. Thomas campus. Outgoing, dedicated and talented are some of the words used to describe me. Singing, dancing, and writing are few of the many things I that I enjoy. In my spare time, I take pride in being a member of various clubs and organizations on campus and in the community. It is my understanding that true success is the result of continuous failure, which is why I live by the motto, “Good, better, best, never let it rest; until your good becomes your better, and your better becomes your best.”

Chris “Breeze” Sealey is one of the most entertaining, dedicated and versatile student who attends UVI.  He is a 20 year old senior who is majoring in Process Tech and communications.

Eleanor Murphy, Consultant and Ad Manager

Eleanor Murphy is a free lance writer and Author of 3 romance novels.  She  has a
Blog “Diva In The Caribbean”, and is interested in writing for newspapers. She has retired after a thirty year career with the United States Department of State, in Washington D.C and is currently a consultant and Ad Manager for the UVI Voice.

My name is Nalie Frederick. I am a sophomore at the University of The Virgin Islands St. Thomas Campus. I am 20 years old and major in Communications. I have a passion for music and radio.  I started my journey on exploring the world and will continue to do so. I grew up on St. Croix and moved to St. Thomas to continue my college education.

Denae’ is a mass communication major who inspires to be engaged in media whether it is in public affairs or broadcasting.  Being very easy to talk to, sociable and outspoken, reaching out to people and gaining insight from others is never difficult. She has a unique way of looking at life and hopes to spread positive energy and make it contagious to the lives of others.  A junior at the University of the Virgin Islands and a soldier in the Army National Guard, Denae is very active in building her empire to future success.

Cali born “Trini” Zenobia aka Zee has done more traveling than your average 23 year old. Consistently chasing adventure her nomadic lifestyle has brought her back to St John USVI to the beautiful Campus of UVI. Where she is pursuing her Bachelors of Arts in Communications. She plans on later pursuing Architecture to further quench her thirst for helping the world in innovative and resourceful ways. My name is Victoria Smith. I was born in Bronx, New York and raised in the Caribbean mainly St. Croix and St. Thomas. I have a young brother who is 17 years old and currently attending Central High School. My parents are both deceased and I am 20 years old. My major at UVI is Journalism and I chose that profession because I love to write and “speak” through words. I love Journalism because it not only helps to express yourself but to also be a voice when needed to be. In my spare time, my hobbies are reading, writing, hanging out with friends, listening to music, and surfing the web mainly social media via twitter or facebook.

Searching for a field in which she could mesh her skills in art, music, and writing, Felicia easily found her niche in the field of communications. She is a student with a knack for academic excellence, priding herself for achieving her academic goals as she rises on her pathway to greatness. However, do not assume that Felicia is merely a bookworm. She is also an active member of several on-campus student clubs and organizations, and devotes time to singing with her campus choir, the UVI Voices of Inspiration.

Mary Jo Wilder is an Assistant Professor of English at the University of the Virgin Islands.  She has lived, taught and raised children in the Virgin Islands, Tanzania, Africa and China as well as stateside in Michigan and on Native American Reservations. She lived here 25 years ago and is happy to be back.
