ST. CROIX – And the winner was chosen. On Feb. 28, the University of the Virgin Islands Albert A. Sheen campus held its inaugural Mr. Incredible competition with Adam Mason standing victor.

The event was organized by Student Activities Advisor Hedda Finch-Simpson and her staff.
“This competition was developed in an attempt to get male students involved in campus activities and to build excitement for students as well,” Finch-Simpson said.
The show, hosted by MC Bogle, had four contenders competing for the Mr. Incredible title. The competitors were Gabriel Lawrence,Casey Charlemagne, Adam Mason and Richardson Edwards.
During the competition, judges scored contestants in five segments: best business wear, 1960s attire, best pick-up line, talent, and question-and-answer.
From the drop of the ball, the crowd cheered on participants without any signs of favoritism, with each contestant leading a category on the voters’ scoring boards.
Mason and Lawrence starred in the talent portion, while Charlemagne won the crowd over with his pick-up line.
“Two ladies, what am I to do?” Charlemagne said. “Good evening ladies, do you guys like this sweater? Touch it and guess what material it is.” After the women answered, Charlemagne then said, “Wrong, this is boyfriend material,” and walked off behind the curtains.
The room filled with laughter; however, the highlight of the night was courtesy of Adam Mason.
Mason hyped up the crowd by performing an original titled “I Duz Wuk them Gyal.”
Gabriel Lawrence also gave a pleasing performance by dancing to “Worst Behavior.”

Richardson Edwards confidently introduced himself in his introduction.
Edwards stated his goal of someday owning Microsoft, and he sported name tags and pins from his brief internship with the company on his suit.
During the competition, MC Bogle said competitions had an unpredictable winner.
“I hosted many events in my past, and honestly, I never pay attention or watch any of them,”Bogle said. “People would see me on the street and ask my opinion on the show and I would say all I was asked to do was MC, not spectate.”
Bogle continued,“The reason I don’t watch all of these competitions I MC is because most of the time you can tell who is going to win before the competition is over. In this competition now, we got a tight race and judges you have your work cut out for you.”
Once scoring was over, Adam Mason was crowned first-ever Mr. Incredible and given the $500.00 grand prize. First runner-up Richardson Edwards received $200.00 for his efforts. All competitors received a medal and UVI gift bag for participating.
