UVI recieves 65-acre land gift, unlimited potential cited

ST. THOMAS–The University of the Virgin Islands received its largest real estate gift with the donation of 65 acres in Estate Sorgenfri on St. Thomas. The property at Sorgenfri No. 1 Southside Quarter includes a rolling hillside, two fresh-water guts and a quarter-mile of beachfront on Hendricks Bay. Leal Van Beverhoudt, the representative of the family who made the gift, said with vision and planning UVI has unlimited potential with the property. Panel Discussion on ‘Challenges and Opportunities for Successful Women’ Set at UVI on Oct. 9

ST. CROIX – UVI students, faculty and staff are invited to attend a panel discussion on “Challenges and Opportunities for the Successful Woman” planned for 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Oct. 9, with access via videoconference on both campuses. On St. Thomas the discussion can be joined in Chase Auditorium, Business Room 110, while the link on St. Croix will be in the Room 226 of the RT Park.

The discussion will be hosted by UVI’s Sisters With Purpose organization. Panelist will include two representatives from Wyndham Vacation Ownership – Area Vice President of Human Resources Marla Tichi and Executive Vice President of Human Resources Sarah King – and Stephanie J. Berry, Director of Compliance of the USVI Economic Development Authority. The conversation will be moderated by Sisters With Purpose Advisor Jennifer Palmer Crawford. UVI Wins Inaugural Soccer Match

ST. CROIX — Chants, cheers and screams filled the air on Saturday,  as The University of the Virgin Islands Albert A. Sheen campus made history within the Athletics Department on the territory’s new and only soccer field. With a crowd of over 100 people the Buccaneers won their Inaugural Home Game, 2-0, against Polytecnica University of Puerto Rico bringing them to a 2-2 standing in the league.
